A Day at Ren

Children arrive between 7:30-8:00 and start the day with a school-wide morning meeting at 8:15. They break into literacy and numeracy classes that are based on each learners’s abilities and needs. After lunch and recess, classes participate in content studies  based on traditional and contemporary topics, and exploratory classes based on interests. School ends at 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, and at 2:30pm on Friday.

Circles Within the Community

Establishing Buddies and Guilds... a tradition of connection.

Buddies are most often a triad involving a younger, and middle, and an older scholar. These

small groups often help each other navigate the child-to-child questions of the school, act as

special relationships that receive attention, and participate together in specific traditions

throughout the year.

Homework and Basic Skills

Homework at Renaissance is used to help scholars learn to manage time and projects. From the

youngest end of the school and beyond, children are expected to engage with reading every

evening for an age-appropriate amount of time: book study, independent reading, read aloud,

partner reading, whatever brings joyful and useful engagement with text.

Ages 4-7:  20-30 minutes per day Ages 8-11: 30-45 minutes per day

Accreditation

A Renaissance School is fully accredited through Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
